Reed in Partnership is a leading welfare-to-work agency, assisting the long-term unemployed back into work. In co-operation with local and national governments, specialist agencies and local partners we find lasting solutions that change people’s lives and their local communities.

This policy outlines how we collect personal information, how we may use that information and our general rights and obligations. It also provides you with some information as to your privacy rights.

Like the majority of businesses, Reed in Partnership are bound by the federal privacy legislation contained in the Privacy Act 1988. This includes the 10 National Privacy Principles that came into effect in December 2001.

Types of personal information

Your personal information is any information or opinion about you that we may receive directly or indirectly. The majority of this information will be collected directly from you, through your resume, cover letter, telephone conversations, registration forms, interviews and emails – however, personal information which the Privacy Act classifies as "sensitive information" will only be collected direct from you.

For some positions you may be required to undertake medical and health checks. Results from these medical checks will also be held on file and used to ensure the safety of yourself and others at work.

Purposes for which we hold personal information

The information collected about you will be used to assess your suitability for positions we have available. When referring you to our clients, we will need to disclose certain details such as but not limited to your name and employment history. As you progress through the process, we may record or divulge additional information about you as a result of reference checks with your referees and feedback from interviews with our clients.

You should particularly be aware that, unless you expressly direct us otherwise, information which you provide to us will be placed on a global database, hosted in the United Kingdom, in order to maximise our ability to find a suitable vacancy for you.

It is possible you will receive emails, automatically generated from our global database, advising you of vacancies which are not of interest to you, particularly because of their geographical location.You can elect to discontinue receiving communications of this nature.

Disclosures

By actively proceeding with Reed in Partnership through participating in the recruitment process your information may be used or disclosed in connection with:

* Actual or possible work placements around the world

* Gaining references

* Government agencies to verify work rights or identity

* Our insurers or legal agents

* Members of the Reed group of companies

* Any lawful request/demand to receive the information

Information about our clients and jobseekers will be securely stored in a combination of electronic and hard copy files. Information may be stored in the UK or Australia.
